About the Filmmaker

Hi there. I’m an American producer, director, and writer born and raised in Southern California. I’ve been a filmmaker since the age of nine, and a dancer and wrestler before attending film school. Raised in a religiously conservative household and disallowed from watching movies, I pursued my dream by reading awards-season screenplays online and books about filmmaking from three county libraries. Now living in Los Angeles, I’m still an avid reader and dancer.

Painted Squirrel Pictures

I would not be able to pursue my life-long dream of filmmaking without the support of my Aunt Janet. The elder artist in our family, she inspired me with her humor and open-hearted curiosity while always supplying me with new reading material or imported films. After her passing in 2022, I began laying the groundwork for my first production company: Painted Squirrel Pictures, named so in honor of her lifelong practice as a sumi-e painter and her persistent hatred of squirrels. My company and my work are indebted to her.
